Just 22 kilometers from Zalakaros, in Nagybakonak, you’ll find the rugged Rocky Canyon, where brave and adventurous hikers can enrich themselves with unforgettable experiences alongside exciting adventures. It’s always worth putting on hiking boots and exploring the breathtaking hidden treasures of the area. The fresh scents of spring and the inviting colors of autumn nature bring genuine excitement to our everyday lives.
This wonderful natural formation, thanks to its sandstone bedrock, amazes hikers with a rare phenomenon, the weeping wall, during rainy weather. The microclimate of the canyon also provides living conditions for species that are not typical for this hilly region.
Adjacent to the canyon are the pleasant resting places known as Árpád, also known as Esperanto Springs. Situated in a small valley, it is the most popular hiking destination in Nagybakonak, easily accessible for both children and the elderly. The two developed springs provide clean, fine drinking water, while fire pits, benches, and tables make relaxation comfortable. Three energy lines pass through the Árpád springs area. These lines are the nerve currents of the earth. With their special radiation, they quickly regenerate weakened bodies and strengthen the immune system. The springs received their first names from the scouts. These springs remained in obscurity for a long time and became unusable. In the late 1970s, with the work of the Nagykanizsa Nature Friends Association, the twin springs were developed. The beautiful and cool environment provides refreshing relief and a pleasant resting place in the summer.
Also found in the area is Csibiti Lake, a man-made pond. A wonderful forest road leads into the Csibiti Valley, enticing hikers with rich flora and fauna. Next to the forest lake, there are resting places and a fresh spring awaiting visitors. The valley is a quiet and hidden gem, where there’s a good chance of not encountering anyone, so if someone wants to hide away from the world’s troubles for a bit, they can do so here.
This was our second time returning to the Belenus Hotel, and once again, we were not disappointed! It is a very cozy, friendly, and charming hotel with a superb little wellness area that perfectly crowns a weekend getaway, along with great food at every meal.
Flóra FejesWe travel the world from Peru to Nepal, but we regularly return to two places: Belenus and the Maldives. Great clay tennis court, unbeatable food, and excellent hospitality.
Henriett S. and Jenő L.We have been to the hotel at least ten times! We go every early summer and at the end of November! We love it; the waiters greet us as familiar faces and always have a few kind words for everyone!
Loretta Várnagyné HorváthThe quality of service was excellent throughout our four-day stay. The hotel staff were exceptionally courteous, the room was clean and comfortable, we enjoyed delicious food in the restaurant, and the wellness area was very relaxing.
István HorváthIt's no coincidence that we've been coming to this hotel for over 10 years. There's no request they can't fulfill. Friendly environment, attentive staff, family-like atmosphere, comfortable, clean rooms, and a relaxing, uncrowded wellness area perfect for rest and rejuvenation.
